Article #1 – Get to Know the Artist of EU DEM’s Comic Book

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your journey as a comic book artist?

My name is Corrado Bianchetti, and I have been working as a comic artist and designer for over ten years. My passion for comics started when I was very young, and I have always pursued my studies to turn this passion into a full-time career. I have published two graphic novels and collaborated on various projects with schools to teach young people about important topics through the language of comics.

What challenges do you face when illustrating complex topics like disinformation?

Through my comics, I have always explored significant themes such as freedom and the fight against injustice, telling the stories of those who have stood up — and continue to stand up — for these ideals. I believe that depicting the efforts of those who combat fake news and misinformation can inspire both young and older audiences to use information platforms more responsibly. Telling the story of the work done by these organizations effectively will be the most challenging task.

What’s your creative process like when working on a project like this?

My creative process begins with researching the themes I need to address and determining the drawing style best suited to convey the message effectively. I then draft an initial script and share it with partners or the publisher to gather feedback. After considering all suggestions, I create a final version of the script. Once approved, I move on to storyboarding, where I include dialogues and sketch out the scenes and story development with drawings. After the storyboard is approved, I start working on the first finalized pages. Once the style and color palette of these pages are approved, I proceed to complete the entire project, ensuring that the final work is delivered by the agreed deadline.

What do you hope readers will take away from this comic?

I hope that this comic will not only serve as a guide against fake news and its spread but also encourage readers to engage with the world of information more thoughtfully, constructively, and critically.

Curious about Corrado’s work? Don’t be shy and go check out what he does!
